The concept for the artwork comes from the title of the apparel collection Beautiful Destruction and is inspired by a feeling we all know when looking deep inside ourselves and reflecting on our decisions and experiences in life.
When looking in the mirror and reflecting on the individual we've become we know the mistakes we've made in the past do not define us, but every now and then we might feel lesser of a person or even not good enough because of the decisions we've made - in this moment we choose to look into the 'stained glass' blessings of our life and are grateful for the lessons while looking forward to better days.
Even when the going gets tough there is always someone who has it worse and in their eyes they might see our life as perfect and flawless - the double edge sword of the destroyed drum in front of the stained glass - it's all perspective.
The illustration shows a broken and used snare drum in front of a cracked stone wall with beautiful stained glass behind it and consumed entirely in wild vegetation and gorgeous flowers. The broken snare and cracked stone wall represents that feeling and the stained glass represents that two way reflection mirror on how one person might see themselves as never good enough and broken, yet another might see the beauty and perfection in their destruction.
